Rape victim’s kin get death threat
The family members of a Delhi university student, who was gangraped in east Delhi’s Mandawali area after being abducted, have told the police that the four accused allegedly threatened to kill the girl after she revealed the incident to her mother.
The police are yet to arrest three accused involved in the rape of the 19-year-old victim, who was gangraped on November 3 near Mayur Vihar Phase III and later dumped at ITO. The auto driver, identified as Rambir, has been arrested so far.
According to the victim’s mother, the four accused had forcibly taken the victim’s mobile phone number and had been continually threatening the family not the talk about the incident to the police. “The accused had took my daughter’s phone number and were continuously threatening to kill us. On November 7, after we reported the matter to the police, one of the accused asked us to meet him at Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital next day. It was there that he was arrested by the local police,” she added.
The victim, who is a B.Com (Correspondence) student and was also working with a cellular company, had alleged that she was waiting for her office cab when three persons forcibly took her in an autorickshaw. “There were three others in the auto who took her to an isolated area near Mayur Vihar Phase III and raped her. After that the accused dropped her near ITO,” said the victim’s mother. Medical examination confirmed of rape.
