Reply to Shunglu panel report ready, to be sent
The Delhi Cabinet on Wednesday approved a voluminous 1,000 page report in response to the Shunglu Committee’s findings, while rejecting the Prime Minister-constituted committee’s findings point by point and also calling the panel’s report having been based on “presumptions” and “assumptions”.
The Shunglu Committee had named the chief minister and lieutenant-governor responsible for procedural lapses in the execution of the Commonwealth Games projects. The Union home ministry had later sought response from the city government on the findings of the Shunglu Committee within stipulated time.
After submitting a preliminary response on the Shunglu committee, the Delhi government would submit the final reply, which has been drafted by three senior officials, to the Centre in few days.
“The over 1,000 page report gives paragraph-wise response on observations made by the Shunglu Committee. All the observations have been dismissed in the final reply, as they were based on presumptions and assumption without verification of the facts,” said a senior official.
After the Cabinet meeting, chief minister Sheila Dikshit told reporters that her government is giving paragraph-wise response to the Shunglu Committee’s findings.
“It will be sent to the Union home ministry in the next two-three days,” she said.
