Retired teacher commits suicide
A retired government school teacher allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself on Saturday at his Moti Nagar residence in west Delhi.
The deceased was identified as 62-year-old Madan Mohan Chopra. He had been battling cancer and was under depression due to the ailment. The incident was reported on Saturday evening.
“A PCR call was received around 4 pm about the incident when Chopra’s daughter came come to see him at his first floor residence in Moti Nagar and found the main door open. On entering, she saw her father hanging from the ceiling fan. His wife was not at home,” said a senior police officer.
Though no suicide note has been recovered, preliminary investigations revealed that he was mentally depressed.
He is survived by his widow and two children. An inquest proceeding has been started in the case, and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination, the police said.
