Robbers on prowl, 5 cases in 24 hrs

Five cases of robbery took place on Friday in three different locations of east, northeast and northwest Delhi. Police officers have so far stated that at least one such case was reported from the Gandhi Nagar area of east Delhi while one was reported from the Durgapuri Chowk in northeast Delhi and three cases were reported from north-west Delhi’s Chand cinema area in Kalyanpuri.

In Gandhinagar, Shashi Kumar, a property dealer, was waylaid by four unidentified men while he was going to a car showroom with a cash of Rs 8.5 lakhs. Police officers stated, “the four men were on two motorcycles and one of them took Shashi on gunpoint to snatch the bag which had money in it.” The police added that Shashi was accompanied by his brother when the incident took place.
So far, the police is yet to arrest the four men. The incident happened on Friday morning.
Shashi has stated to the police that four men had started following him and his brother soon after they left their residence.
In the Durgapur area, an MNC employee was robbed off Rs 40, 000 by two unidentified men after he had withdrawn money from an ATM.
The victim, Shariq Khan, was taken on a gunpoint on Friday morning by the unidentified men, who fled away with cash and his mobile phone. The police added that Shariq tried to resist, however, the two men overpowered him.
While in the Chand Cinema Complex premises in the Kalyanpuri area, atleast three people were robbed off cash and mobile phone.
So far, police officers have stated that in one of the incidents in the Chand Cinema area, a 22-year-old man was stabbed by an unidentified man who was trying to flee after snatching his phone.
The victim, who has been identified as Guddu, was rushed to a near by hospital was said to be in critical condition due to excessive blood loss. “However, Guddu has recovered,” added the police.
