Robbers stab youth, loot cash, mobile

A youth was stabbed by six unidentified assailants at Ashok Vihar in northwest Delhi on Saturday evening.
The incidents took place when six unidentified assailants travelling in a Maruti car intercepted a youth, Jaikaran, who works as an interiors decorator, near deputy commissioner’s office, while he was coming out of Punjab National Bank ATM after withdrawing `8,000. The incident happened at around 9.30 pm. The assailants asked him to hand-over the cash but Jaikaran resisted.
“One of the assailants took out a knife and stabbed Jaikaran multiple times. The assailants then snatched his cash, a gold chain and mobile phone and escaped from the spot. A PCR call was made by a passerby and a team of cops arrived at the spot,” the official said. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he has been admitted in a critical state.
Earlier on Saturday, a steel factory owner was shot dead in the same area by unidentified assailants at around 7 pm when he refused to hand over a bag containing cash to them.

Accused to be arrested soon: Cops
New Delhi, Jan. 30: The police said on Sunday that it was closing in on the two persons who fled in a cash van with `68.5 lakhs after establishing the real identity of one of them and believe that they are hiding in Uttar Pradesh.
A security guard and a driver of a private security agency, employed for filling ATMs with cash, had fled with the cash van in Alaknanda in Southeast Delhi on Friday afternoon. The two had submitted fake identity papers to the agency and no police verification had been done.
“We have identified the security guard as Sandeep who is a resident of Meerut. He had given a fake identity of Sanjeev Kumar to get the job,” a senior police official said.
Police had yesterday released the photographs of the gunman and driver of a private security agency while the security agency announced a reward of `50,000 for anyone who helps in tracking them down. —PTI
