Rs 22 lakhs for bank ATM stolen
In a bizarre case, unidentified thieves managed to escape with Rs 22 lakhs from a cash van on its way to deposit the amount in an ATM in broad daylight at Sector 18 in Noida on Friday. The cash was meant for an ATM of a multi-national bank.
According to the Noida police, a cash van belonging to a private company was stationed near the ATM of Deutsche Bank in Sector 18 market, and preparations were on to deposit the cash around 1.30 pm. Three persons, including the driver, were busy with the job inside the ATM chamber. In the meantime, the driver left the van and went to have water. Rajveer, one of the security guards, was keeping an eye, sitting inside the van.
Around the same time, a man approached Rajveer through the grill of the cash van and told him that some cash in the denomination of Rs 10 and Rs 20 were lying on the road. Rajveer came down from the vehicle and collected the notes. But when he returned, he found a cash bag, containing Rs 22 lakhs, missing. Immediately, he raised an alarm following which the police was informed.
The police is questioning Rajveer to ascertain the exact sequence of events and also to gather details about the thieves.
