Runaway couple’s bodies recovered
Special teams of the Delhi and UP police on Tuesday recovered bodies of a 20-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman from two different areas in Ghaziabad and Delhi. The deceased, who are believed to be a couple, had eloped from the Nithari village in Malkhera district of Rajasthan. Investigating officers are probing on a possibility of an honour killing.
While the body of Trilok (20) was found in highly decomposed condition on a railway track in the Vivek Vihar area of east Delhi, Khamosh (18) was found in a isolated area of Vasundhra in Ghaziabad.
So far, the investigating officers have stated that on December 17, the girl’s father had lodged a missing complaint in a local police station in Malkhera. The cases have been registered at the Indirapuram and the Vivek Vihar police stations in Ghaziabad and east Delhi. Further investigations are going on.
Talking to the media, the investigating officer and the SHO of the Indirapuram police station Rajesh Diwedi said: “The investigations are going on. So far, it seems to be case of an honour killing. However, it is too early to reveal anything.”
The investigating officers in Delhi pointed out, “ We have specific inputs which suggests that the families of the deceased had not approved of their relationship which led them to run away. “ The Delhi police officers have also pointed out that the family members of the deceased have been asked to appear for questioning.
However, the police maintained that the cause of death is yet to be ascertained. “We are waiting for post-mortem reports to identify the cause of death,” said the police.
