Russian woman gets threats, fears for life
A Russian woman allegedly assaulted by a Uttar Pradesh MLA’s son on February 29 at her house in south Delhi apprehends danger to her life and has sought booking of the accused under stricter penal charges.
Tatiana Butyaeva, 24, an architect who earlier worked with a multi-national company based in Gurgaon, was assaulted by Vivek Ahlawat, son of Chandervir Singh, in Mehrauli. The Delhi police had registered an FIR against Vivek for house trespass, assault and provisions of the Arms Act.
“After the FIR against Vivek, I am getting SMS and calls warning of dire consequences. The matter would be presented in Russian embassy on Sunday,” Butyaeva said.
She said that she gave another application to Delhi police on Friday urging to book Vivek under stricter penal provisions dealing with assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty and assault to commit theft or robbery.
The Russian’s counsel Gagan Chhabra said: “It seems that the police is working under influence. Only the house trespass section is there in FIR. The accused was carrying a loaded weapon with him. He thrashed the victim and took away her passport, credit cards and mobile phone,” he said.
