S-I, ED clerk kill selves at work

A 43-year-old Delhi police sub-inspector committed suicide by allegedly shooting himself with his service revolver inside the Kanjhawala police station on Wednesday morning.

Police officials said Rohtash Kumar, who hailed from Bhiwani district in Haryana, shot himself in the neck using his service revolver. According to the police, Rohtash had come to the police station at around 8.15 in the morning and he shot himself soon after.
Police officials have not recovered any suicide note from the deceased. A retired Indian Air Force serviceman, Rohtash had joined Delhi police as a probationary sub-inspector in 2008.
The police said prima facie investigations have revealed that he was suffering from depression.
“We heard a loud sound in the morning and found him lying in a pool of blood on the terrace. We did not find any suicide note. We are talking to his family members to ascertain the reason as to why he committed suicide,” said a police official.
The police said Rohtash was on probation for a year after which he would have been inducted into the force permanently.
A police official from the Kanjhawala police station who knew Rohtash said that he had joined the police station a month ago.
“He was always silent and stayed aloof. He hardly interacted with anyone. I don’t think he was in a problem or anything of that sort. It’s shocking that he committed suicide,” he added.
In another case, an upper division clerk at the Enforcement Directorate in Jam Nagar area of Tilak Nagar committed suicide at his office on Wednesday morning.
The police said that Santosh Verma, 51, was found hanging from a window by one Pratap, who went to serve him tea on Wednesday morning. No suicide note has been found.
The police said the deceased was posted in Jaipur and had been recently transferred to Delhi.
The deceased had separated from his wife and the police is suspecting that he was suffering from depression.
