Sacked judicial officer files plea against his dismissal
Former Metropolitan Magistrate of the Rohini district court, Gautam Kant Nimaan, who was terminated from service last month on charges of corruption, on Friday moved the Delhi high court challenging the notification of the lieutenant-governor in this regard.
This newspaper had on August 25 reported first that Nimaan was removed from service after he was allegedly found demanding `10 lakhs from an accused. Three accused in the said case were awarded six months jail term. Nimaan had allegedly demanded `10 lakhs from one of them for reducing the jail term. Nimaan submitted before a division bench comprising Justices A.K. Sikri and Manmohan Singh, that his service could not be terminated through a simple order as he had completed two years of probation period and also successfully completed one year extension thereafter since his appointment in April 2007.
