Two months after charges were framed against senior Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in a case relating to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, a Delhi court on Thursday decided to frame charges against him in another anti-Sikh riots case.

Additional sessions judge (ASJ) Sunita Gupta fixed July 5 for framing of charges against Kumar and others in connection with the alleged killing of six persons in the case.
The ASJ had on June 5 reserved order on framing of charges against Kumar and others.
The CBI is seeking prosecution of Kumar, former outer Delhi MP, Brahmanand Gupta, Peru, Khushal Singh and Ved Prakash for the murder of six persons in Sultanpuri, northwest Delhi, in the riots that took place in the aftermath of the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
The same court had on May 28 framed charges of murder and spreading enmity between two communities against Kumar in another anti-Sikh riots case, saying there are sufficient grounds for presuming that the violence was due to a “well-planned conspiracy” in Delhi Cantonment area.
“There are sufficient grounds for presuming that violent incidents after October 31, 1984, in the following three days were the result of the well-planned conspiracy and provocative speeches made by accused Sajjan Kumar to the mob," the court had said.
The court began recording of statements of prosecution witnesses in the Delhi Cantonment area case in which Jagdish Kaur submitted she saw Kumar provoking a mob to kill Sikhs.
Describing the sequence of events, she alleged Kumar had instigated mobs to kill the Sikhs on the night when her husband, along with other family members, was killed. CBI had filed two chargesheets against Kumar and others on January 13 in the riots cases registered in 2005 on the recommendation of Justice G.T. Nanavati Commission which inquired into the sequence of events leading to the riots.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
