Schools prefer points system
Principal from various Delhi schools have told the Delhi government that they want to continue with the points system and not the proposed draw of lots, which similar to the lottery system.
Prior to a discussion in the Cabinet on Sunday, Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit had asked principals of various Delhi schools to submit their suggestions regarding nursery admissions on Thursday.
“It will be difficult to implement draw of lots under various categories namely, management quota, staff quota, economic welfare scheme quota and general category. So we have suggested that points system should continue,” president, Delhi State Public School Management Association, said.
The schools have also demanded that they should be given freedom to decide the dates of sale of forms and declaration of results. The activists have, however, expressed their concern over the matter.
“All schools should wrap up the declaration of result in a week’s time. In addition to it, the schools should also be given instructions on fees deposition that they should not keep the condition of fee deposition within three days, like last year. Otherwise, the parents will have to keep lakhs of rupees ready with them becasue they have to deposit admission fee in more than one school just to be on a safer side and for many parents it is not possible,” founder, nurseryadmission.com Rajan Arora said.
