SEC ropes theatre groups to draw youth for voting
The Delhi Election Commission has decided to rope in theatre actors who would stage nukkad nataks in the city to elicit interest among the youth towards voting. The week-long event, beginning January 21, is to mark the National Voters Day. The plays would be held at 106 places between 11 am and 5.30 pm in four different zones, into which the city has been broadly divided.
The four theatre groups roped in are Raas Kala Manch (director — Manish Joshi); Chitralekha Arts (director — Sumit Sharma); Astha (director — Kailash Joshi) and Black Entertain-ment & Media (India) (director — Chandra Bhu-shan Singh). The commission has also sought support of Sahitya Kala Parishad in coordinating the cultural aspects of the campaign.
The aim is to make the youth aware about the right to vote and involve them in the democratic process.
