Security hiked across city
Security has been stepped up at the IGI Airport, on the Delhi Metro network, all markets, temples and important places in the city in view of possible threats ahead of Independence Day. The Delhi police, CISF and other security agencies have tightened their vigil to prevent any untoward incident. The police has deployed additional policemen at all markets.
“Dangri Commandos have been deployed at important places while policemen in civil uniform have also been put on vigil duty. We tightened vigil after we were informed by IB officials that terrorist may strike ahead of Independence Day,” said a police official.
The CISF has begun surprise security check at airports and profiling of passengers has also been intensified. CISF officials in plain clothes are monitoring crowds by mingling with them.
Meanwhile, a senior official said they have put additional barricades at all entry points to check vehicles that enter the capital from outside.
