Sheila hands UID numbers
Chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday distributed Unique Identification (UID) number to residents from the weaker sections under the “Adhar” project at a function at Chhatrasal Stadium in the city on the eve of the Republic Day. She also handed over bank passbooks to them.
“Our collaboration with Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will yield positive results. With this, the people will have their identity numbers along with all relevant details,” she said.
Ms Dikshit unfurled the National Flag at a Republic Day function, something she has done for the 13th consecutive time.
The CM further said that during the last 12 years her government has been able to bring a positive change in governance by enhancing transparency and accountability. “We have implemented Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure delivery of services by various departments within prescribed time frame. Around 40 services have already been included and the number will be over 100 very soon,” she said.
Further, it has also been decided that the officers found to be lax and negligent in their work resulting in late delivery of services will be fined to make the SLAs more effective, the chief minister said.
She said that around 1,500 unauthorised colonies will be regularized within next few months.
She also reiterated that the private schools will have to implement the provisions of the Right to Education.
