Sheila lays foundation stone of major road infra project

Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit laid a foundation stone of a major road infrastructure project in northwest Delhi on Sunday. The project will aim at decongesting a section of the Ring road.
An eight-km-long signal-free corridor from Mukarba Chowk to Wazirabad Chowk on Outer Ring Road will be built under this project at a cost of `633 crore. It will help decongest the Ring road as well as various arterial streets in and around Mukarba Chowk.
The corridor is part of a comprehensive `2,200 crore project to make the stretch from Vikaspuri to Wazirabad of the Outer Ring road totally signal-free.
Addressing a public gathering at the event, which was also attended by PCC president J.P. Agrawal, Ms Dikshit said the project was another step towards making Delhi a world-class city.
“The city government is keen to turn Delhi into an advanced, convenient and longer-lasting infrastructure- oriented world-class city to be emulated by other ultra-modern developed cities in the world,” she said.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr Agrawal said, “Delhi model of development has no match in the country. We are keen to have continued leadership of Ms Dikshit in Delhi.”
Mr J.P. Agrawal, who is not known to have a very cordial relationship with chief minister Sheila Dikshit, started sharing dais with her since last month after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi asked both the leaders to bury the hatchet and work together to ensure Congress’ victory in Delhi Assembly elections for the fourth successive term.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
