Sheila wants OC to ensure more audience
Although the presence of Indian stars and a good performance from the Indian contingent are believed to have raised public interest in the Commonwealth Games, the Delhi government is said to be concerned about the low viewership at various stadia.
With the Games almost halfway through, the number of spectators at various competitions has remained low and the problems with ticketing issues too seem to have contributed to it.
Delhi government sources maintained that chief minister Sheila Dikshit is not happy and wanted the organising committee to ensure that more spectators turn up.
The organising committee should work towards attracting the students to the stadia, government sources said.
Sources said that the city government and the chief minister were concerned that less viewership of games events may not be good for the image of the host city.
However, the CWG website on Friday, showed that tickets for most of the events to take place over the weekends were sold out.
