Showers, squalls lash city, S. Delhi road gives away
Heavy showers and thunder squalls lashed the city on Sunday. Rains started at around 3.20 pm and continued till late in the evening leading to waterlogging on some stretches. Some parts of the city also experienced hailstorm.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 26.4 degree Celsius, while the minimum settled at 10.3º Celsius. Humidity remained high with the maximum touching 95 per cent.
After some early mist, the morning was sunny but clouds and darkness descended along with rains in afternoon. “There will be rainfall and squalls during the night, but it will be over by morning. The sky will remain partly cloudy on Monday. Shallow mist is expected in the morning,” a Met official said.
The maximum and minimum temperatures have been forecast to be around 23º Celsius and 10º Celsius on Monday.
A road near Aurobindo Marg in south Delhi caved in after rains. Two-wheelers were not allowed to ply under Minto Bridge due to heavy waterlogging there.

Boy drowns during play

Feb. 20: A 11-year-old child drowned in northwest Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh, the police said on Sunday. The deceased, Abhishek, fell into a pool of water near a private hospital’s under-construction building arou-nd 6 pm on Saturday. while playing with friends near his aunt’s Haiderpur village residence, the police said.
“A passerby fished him out in a few minutes,” said the officer. Abhishek was rushed to a nearby hospital by a PCR van where he was declared brought dead. The police is mulling criminal proceedings against the contractor engaged by the private hospital for the construction of the facility.
