Snag hits Noida to Dwarka Metro

Delhi Metro services were again affected on Tuesday during the rush hour on account of power-related problem which affected the signalling system. The snag affected services on the Dwarka-Anand Vihar/Noida line.
The delay led to over-crowding of platforms at busy Metro stations like Rajiv Chowk, Laxmi Nagar and Akshardham. People were seen jostling with each other to get into trains which were arriving later than their scheduled timings. The signalling problem first disrupted the services between Dwarka and Rajouri Garden stations around 8.30 am and a cascading effect resulted in bunching of trains at other stations down the line.
According to a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation spokesperson, “The train services were affected due to a problem in the UPS system (which supplies power to the signalling equipment) which affected the signalling system between Dwarka Sec-21 and Rajouri Garden section,” a DMRC spokesman said.
As a result, the trains moved at slow speed, being operated manually, between Dwarka Sec-21 and Rajouri Garden Metro stations.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation also claimed that the problem was rectified and services were normalised very quickly, commuters claimed that the services remained delayed late hours in the morning.
