Snooping task lands detective in jail
The attempt of a private detective to earn clandestinely record the activities of a woman, whose husband suspected her of infidelity, was cut short by the Delhi police who arrested the accused on Monday and sent him to jail.
The police said the accused, identified as Vikas, a resident of Taimur Nagar, was arrested from the capital following a complaint lodged by the victim at Chanakyapuri on Monday.
The victim had stated in her complaint that the accused was following her “for a long time” and used to click her photographs and shoot videos of her activities.
“The accused allegedly chased the victim from morning when she left her house for work till evening when she returned and was always armed with still and video cameras. On the basis of her complaint, a case was registered under Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC at the Chanakyapuri police station and the accused was arrested,” a police official said.
During investigations, it was revealed that the woman and her husband were not on good terms with each other over the last two years.
“Her husband had approached the accused to keep an eye on the activities of the victim whom he suspected of infidelity. The two are having a rough married life and have approached the police in past to sort out their differences. A case of domestic violence has also been registered at the Crime Against Women Cell of Delhi police against the woman’s husband,” the source said.
The police said the victim works in Youth Hostel on Man Singh Marg in Chanakyapuri and her husband is reportedly a businessman.
Despite repeated attempts, senior Delhi police officials were not available for their comments.
