Specify role of all accused: Court
A city court on Monday asked the Delhi police to make clear the specific roles of various suspected Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorists allegedly involved in plotting the September 2008 serial terror blasts in the city. Giving public prosecutor Rajiv Mohan two weeks’ time to specify the role of various accused in hatching the criminal
conspiracy, additional sessions judge (ASJ) Santosh Snehi Mann said, “There are two categories of accused. One set of accused took part in the conspiracy while others played their part in execution. I want the Delhi police to come out specifically about the role of each of the accused who participated in hatching conspiracy,” and posted the matter for further hearing on January 31.
The court, meanwhile, refused to pass any order on the pleas filed by the accused Mohd Hakim, Shahzad and Salman apprehending threat to their lives inside the high-security Tihar jail after the authorities assured it of their safety. ASJ Mann had earlier slated the matter for Monday to pass an order on framing of charges against 14 suspected IM terrorists.
