Speeding car falls off flyover, no one injured
Four inebriated youth had a miraculous escape when their Maruti Swift car jumped a divider and fell down from Lajpat Nagar flyover on Monday night.
The police said the incident took place when four youth, identified as Pradeep, Sachin, Deepak and Rohit, all residents of Dakshinpuri in southeast Delhi were
returning from a party in their white Maruti Swift (DL3CBC 3468) to dine at a restaurant in Hazrat Nizamuddin area. The overspeeding car was driven by Sachin who tried to overtake a truck and lost control over vehicle.
The vehicle jumped on the road divider, crossed the pavement and fell down from the flyover near Jungpora Extension flyover.
A call was made to the police control room by a pedestrian and the victims were taken to a nearby hospital. Miraculously, none of them had suffered any major injuries and were discharged after a medical examination.
The police later registered a case of rash and negligent driving against Sachin at Hazrat Nizamuddin police station.
“There was some scrap material lying beneath the flyover where the car landed which lessened the impact of the crash and averted a major accident,” a senior Delhi police official said.
