Speeding car mows down 40-yr-old man
A 40-year-old man was mowed down by a Scorpio car in a hit-and-run case in southwest Delhi’s Dabri area on Wednesday evening.
The incident took place at around 10.15 pm on Dabri-Dwarka Ganda Nullah road when a white Scorpio car hit an unidentified man who was crossing the road. “A police barricade had been put up on the carriageway where the accident happened. The policemen deployed at the barricade saw the accident taking place. Before they could nab the accused, he sped away,” DCP (southwest) A.K. Ojha said.
The victim was rushed to DDU Hospital where he was declared brought dead. “We have identified the car owner,” Mr Ojha said.
The locals however alleged negligence on part of the police in rushing the victim to the hospital. They also said that the police didn’t made effort to nab the driver but Mr Ojha rebutted such claims. The victim was carrying a red bag and was wearing blue pants and a green shirt. A hue-and-cry notice has been raised in all the districts to identify the deceased. The police has registered a case under Section 279 and 304 of IPC at the Dabri police station.
