Sreedharan for better Airport Line frequency

Delhi Metro managing director E Sreedharan asked the frequency and speed of Airport Express Link to be increased after a surprise inspection of the Airport Express Metro link on Tuesday.

He boarded the train at New Delhi at 9 am and travelled up to Dwarka Sector 21. He disembarked at all the operational stations on the corridor and personally inspected the amenities available for the commuters till 11 am.
Mr Sreedharan was disappointed with the present frequency of 20 minutes of the Reliance-led concessionaire Airport Express Line and stressed on the importance of increasing the frequency of trains on the corridor to provide better connectivity and service to the commuters.
In addition, he also said that the maximum speed of the trains must be increased up to 120 km and all the issues related to it must be sorted out at the earliest. Presently, the trains are running at a maximum speed of 105 km per hour,” a Delhi Metro spokesperson said.
He also expressed his dissatisfaction about the passenger amenities including the lack of tea or coffee vending machines that are yet to be provided at the stations.
He pointed out that the lack of proper signage and mobile connectivity in the underground sections were causing inconvenience to the commuters.
