Sreedharan wants to quit by yearend
Metro chief E. Sreedharan wants to quit by 2011-end and does not seek another extension. He wants to train his successor for the job before leaving.
After making the Delhi Metro an icon in India and abroad, and setting an example of integrity and persistence, Mr Sreedharan wants to retire even when the government
wants him to be associated with the Metro projects for his life. Mr Sreedharan will announce his successor by mid-year so that he gets at least six month of training under him. “Sreedharan may quit by the end of this year. His term will expire by that time. He wants to be here to train his successor so that he handles the railway project efficiently,” a Delhi Metro official said.
Mr Sreedharan, who underwent a bypass heart surgery in April, had in 2010 said he has nothing more to achieve in life and he wants to spend his post-retirement days in his native Kerala.
