Storm, sparse rain bring respite

Duststorm at a speed of 62 kms per hour and light showers lashed parts of the city on Sunday afternoon, bringing relief to the people reeling under heat conditions. The weatherman stated that the duststorms and light rains were due to western disturbances. The met department also stated that there is likelihood of thunderstorm and rains in the capital in the next few days as well.

The met department said that the day time maximum temperature hovered around 44 degrees Celsius, which was three degrees above the normal, while the minimum was 28.1 degrees, which was one degree below the average. The duststorm and light rains on Sunday afternoon were in contrast to the earlier claims of the met department of a clear sky.
The national capital can expect a maximum temperature of 43 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature of 29 degrees Celsius for Monday. The city will have partly cloudy sky with possibility of duststorm and thunderstorm on Monday afternoon or evening. They may bring some rain on Monday or Tuesday, the met forecast said.
