Sudden rains lash city, chill on rise
The chill in the air on Wednesday was on the upswing with most parts of the city receiving rainfall in the afternoon. While the maximum temperature was two degrees below normal, the minimum temperature was seven degrees above normal.
In the afternoon, the sky became heavily overcast and the visibility dipped forcing vehicles to slow down.
The capital received 5.8 mm of rainfall in the nine hours since 8.30 am.
According to the weatherman, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in the capital were 26.1 degrees Celsius and 18.1 degrees Celsius, respectively. On Tuesday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 26 degrees Celsius and 18.8 degrees Celsius.
The weatherman has forecast more rains for Thursday.
The forecast said that there would be shallow fog in the morning and evening and the sky would remain partly cloudy. There is also a possibility of rain or thundershowers in some parts of the city, said the weatherman.
With a long monsoon season and heavy rains, it is expected that the winter this year is going to be severe and prolonged.
