Support bandh on price rise, says BJP
The Delhi BJP and its ally, the Janata Dal (United), have geared up to make the “Bharat Bandh” call to protest against the hike in petrol and LPG prices a success in the city on Monday next.
Delhi BJP chief Vijendra Gupta on Saturday said that several market associations have been approached and requested to keep their establishments closed.
“We request the parents not to send their children to school. Although the bandh will be peaceful, some anti-social elements may take advantage of the situation and create ruckus. Hence, it would be advisable not to send children to school,” said Mr Gupta.
He added that national president Nitin Gadkari, NDA chairperson Sharad Yadav and Akali Dal leader S.S. Dhindsa will participate in the protest and dharna.
Mr Gupta said that the policies of the government has led to sharp rise in the cost of transportation of goods, as a result of which the prices of all essential commodities have sky-rocketed. He added that the common man was suffering despite record production of grains in 2009.
