SUV hits car, Japanese woman hurt
A 30-year-old Japanese woman was injured in the early hours of Sunday when a speeding SUV hit the car which she was travelling in, the police said.
The woman, Rika Hio, was on way to a hotel from international airport here in a car when she met with the accident at R.K. Ashram Chowk at around 3 am, a senior police official said.
The hotel officials had sent their driver Bablu Sharma, 30, to pick her from the airport.
When the car reached the R.K. Ashram Chowk, a speeding Toyota Innova hit the vehicle from the left side, the official said.
After the accident, the driver of the Innova fled the scene in his vehicle. Nobody could note down the registration number of the vehicle, the official said.
The police reached the spot and rushed Hio and Sharma to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where they were treated. The nature of injuries received by Hio and Sharma was blunt, the official said.
A case under Sections 379 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by endangering life or personal safety of others) was registered against unknown persons. The official said efforts were on to trace the erring vehicle and arrest the driver.
