Swede drugged, robbed in city?
A Swedish national was found lying unconscious outside the Paschim Vihar Metro Station in west Delhi on Monday morning with the police suspecting it to be a case of drugging and robbery.
The incident came to light when a passerby noticed the victim, identified as Mannie, aged around 37 years, lying in an unconscious state outside the Delhi Metro’s Paschim Vihar station, the police said.
A call was made to the police control room and the victim was taken in a PCR van to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital where he was admitted.
There were no external injury marks on the victim’s body and the doctors have declared him stable.
Police sources said that the belongings of the Swedish national are missing, suggesting drugging and robbery.
Police officials suspect that the victim was drugged and robbed of his belongings by some unidentified miscreants.
“He was identified with the help of the documents recovered from him as he was not carrying anything when a passerby spotted him. We are yet to record his statement since he is unconscious. It appears to be a case of drugging,” deputy commissioner of police (west) V. Renganathan said.
The doctors at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital have declared Mannie “unfit” for giving statement.
In the meantime, the police have informed the Swedish embassy about the incident.
“No case has been registered as we are waiting for his recovery ,” Mr Renganathan said.
The police is trying to ascertain whether Mannie was accompanied by anyone. The cops are also trying to verify his antecedents. Further investigations are on.
