Tea vendor claims he saw rape accused
A tea vendor from Mangolpuri area of outer Delhi has approached the police, claiming that he saw the four accused involved in the gangrape of a girl from Northeast.
The police believes that the information could be very crucial in establishing the identity of the accused allegedly involved in the case. Although 15 different teams are working day and night on the case, the police are yet to make any major breakthrough. Police sources said a tea vendor from Mangolpuri claimed to have seen four men inside a tempo near the spot where the girl was dropped.
“The tea vendor (name withheld) has spoken to an official from Mangolpuri police station and claims to have seen four men inside a tempo who were drunk and were making loud noises. He claims that he can identify them if he sees them,” said senior police official from Mangolpuri. Sources said that the vendor was returning home when he saw the accused.
Joint commissioner of police (south) Amulya Patnaik said that the investigations are being monitored at highest levels. “A thorough investigation is being conducted into the case. We can’t reveal more than that at this point to the media,” he said. Sources said the police will now match the description of tea vendor with those given by another man who had claimed to have seen the men in Dhaula Kuan.
Meanwhile, representatives of Northeast community met the commissioner and asked for a quick investigation in the case.
