Teacher found dead in Rithala

A young music teacher was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his rented accommodation in Outer Delhi’s Rithala area on Tuesday morning with the police suspecting that he was smothered to death.
The police said the incident was reported from Vijay Vihar’s Rithala area and the deceased has been identified as Sahil Joshi, a music teacher with Abhinav Public School.
He was staying alone at his residence from the last few months.
The incident came to light when the neighbours noticed that the door to his flat was bolted and he was not responding.
A PCR call was made and a team of cops arrived at the spot. The cops broke open the door and found Joshi lying dead on his bed. There has been no injury marks. “Prima facie it appears it be a case of suffocation or smothering,” a senior police official said.
Meanwhile, a 22-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Outer Delhi apparently angry over his mother refusing to give him money for consuming alcohol, the police said.

AGE CORRESPONDENT
NEW DELHI

Feb. 1: Make Delhi police a model police: The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, on Tuesday asked the home ministry to make Delhi police a model for other state forces to follow by taking steps like friendly policing.
The Prime Minister also stressed on the need to revamp the functioning of police stations and policemen across the country to strengthen internal security mechanism. “We cannot continue to police our society with archaic laws and policing systems. We are aware that many police commissions have made various recommendations on police reforms. I urge the states to seriously look into this aspect,” he further stated.
The Prime Minister also said, “I would like the ministry of home affairs to carry forward this exercise to its logical conclusion in the Union Territory of Delhi during the coming years so that Delhi police becomes a model for other state police forces to emulate.”
The PM further stated, “We need to take three pronged action on community policing, police reforms and informed use of technology respectively to make this happen.”
Dr Singh asked the Centre and the states to work together to formulate guidelines for community policing.
