Tech student shoots self over ‘performance’ fear
A 22-year-old engineering student, who was apparently not able to cope with his studies, shot himself dead in neighbouring Ghaziabad on Saturday. A suicide note was recovered from his possession.
According to Ghaziabad police, the incident came to light when the security guards heard a gunshot near the temple within the campus of Krishna Institute of Engineering and Techno-logy in Murad Nagar, Ghaziabad, after Friday midnight. They informed the college authorities that a student, Harshit Kumar, son of Raj Kumar Sharma, a resident of Aligarh, UP, had shot himself.
Harshit was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The police said that a suicide note purportedly written by Harshit was recovered from the spot. Addressing his father in the note, Harshit, a third-year student, said that he was not able to fulfil his desires and was, therefore, ending his life.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Harshit had come out from his hostel room and shot himself near the temple. The police is now trying to find out how Harshit managed to acquire the weapon, a countrymade revolver. His parents were informed by the police and they reached Murad Nagar on Saturday morning.
