The house of a government official in Sarojini Nagar was looted and set on fire by unidentified men who left the police in a tizzy.
The incident occurred in Sarojini Nagar at the residence of Sunil Sharma, an employee of Central Secretariat while he was in Haryana with his family. The incident came to light in the early hours on Sunday. The police has yet to trace the men involved in the arson and burglary case.
The investigating officers said: “Neighbours noticed smoke emanating from the house and informed the fire brigade and police.”
The police officials said that the locks of the almirah were found broken. “The burglars have put the place on fire to destroy the evidence,” said the investigating officers.
“We are waiting for Mr Sharma and his family to return so that we can ascertain the things stolen from the house. We have registered a case and are investigating the matter,” said a senior police officer.
According to the police, the gang involved in these incidents consists of mainly minors and targets the locked homes of government officials. The gang operates mostly in Sarojini Nagar, R.K. Puram and Lakshmibai Nagar in south Delhi. The gang’s kingpin, Sanjeev was arrested from Sarojini Nagar earlier in February.
Earlier on 6 February, the house of Vinay Shukla, a businessman, was burgled and later set on fire by the gang when his family was in Kanpur to attend a marriage. The gang leader Sanjeev was arrested on February 19.
The gang leader had escaped from observation home over five times.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
