Theft, robberies in 3 houses in 1hr
Unidentified armed assailants went on a rampage at Uttam Nagar in west Delhi on Sunday evening, carrying out three incidents within an hour and looting cash and jewellery worth lakhs of rupees while firing gunshots and stabbing a medical store owner. The A1/350, Hastsal Road residence of a property dealer was burgled by
armed assailants at around 10 pm when Kuldeep Batra, who lives with his two brothers and other family members, had gone to attend a function. “The assailants broke the main gate and ransacked the entire house. Cash and jewellery worth `12 lakhs was missing,” said Kuldeep.
The incident was followed by a robbery at L Extension, Bhagwati Garden residence of one Harnam Singh when four assailants barged into the house and held his wife and three children hostage at gunpoint. The assailants locked the children in a room and took the keys from Singh’s wife. “They looted cash and jewellery worth `3 lakhs, Singh informed the PCR when he returned home at around 11 pm,” a police official said.
The third incident took place near Kakrola Mor in Uttam Nagar when Hari Kishore, 25, who runs a medical store, was returning home after closing his shop. Two assailants intercepted him at around 11.15 pm and asked him to hand over his belongings. “When I resisted, one assailant took out a pistol and fired gunshots in air while his accomplice stabbed me. They took away my mobile and `5,000 cash,” said Kishore to the cops.
