Thief held with 8 phones at fest
Eight mobile phones were stolen from the food fest in Connaught Place area on Sunday. However, the beat officer on duty nabbed the accused immediately and recovered all eight mobile phones from his possession.
The incident was reported on Sunday afternoon when the Connaught Place police station received back-to-back seven PCR calls about mobile theft at the food fest. While the PCR van was on its way, the police station sent the message about the incidents to the beat officer Shibu George. Before the PCRs could reach the spot the beat officer tracked the suspect and nabbed him on the spot.
“We repeatedly received calls about mobile theft from the same spot. All the accused said that their cellphones were picked. We sent our team and intimated the beat officer immediately. The beat officer Shibu George acted swiftly and nabbed the thief from the food fest. The accused was identified as Rajesh Mandal, 19. We have recovered all the stolen mobile phones from his possession,” said a senior police official.
The police said that the accused in a resident of Patna and his earlier involvement in theft cases is being checked. The complainants claimed seven recovered mobile phones.
