Threat phone call for PM, Atal traced to Ghaziabad
Security agencies were thrown into a tizzy on Tuesday evening when the police control room here received an anonymous call, threatening to kill Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his predecessor Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Police sources said the call was traced to Ghaziabad but no arrests have been made so far as the identity of the person who made the call has not been ascertained so far.
“The identity provided by the accused for procuring the SIM card was bogus. We think the call was made by a prankster and investigations are on to identify him,” a senior police official said.
The sources said the call was made from the mobile phone to the Delhi police’s control room on Tuesday evening. “The anonymous male caller threatened to kill Singh and Vajpayee. During investigations, the call was traced to a location in Ghaziabad. However, when we conducted searches, it did not yield much result as the address used to procure the SIM card was bogus,” the official said.
“The phone number belongs to one Ram Avatar, a resident of Sanjay Nagar, Ghaziabad. A search operation was conducted in the area but we could not find the address as it was fake,” superintendent of police, Ghaziabad, Raghubir Lal told PTI.
