Tihar inmates to be on Twitter, Facebook soon

The Tihar Central jail is the latest government agency ready to join the Facebook bandwagon after the Delhi traffic police and the MCD. Tihar prison PRO and law officer Sunil Gupta told this newspaper that Tihar’s page should be ready by the month end. “We are working on it and want to invite public opinion from all in order to improve

our functioning and also make the people aware of our day-to-day activities,” said Mr Gupta. He added that the director general (prisons), Neeraj Kumar, has decided to launch the page on the social networking site.
The official added that Tihar was the most famous prison in the whole of south-east Asian region and was a role model for prisons in other countries.
