Trader’s kin robbed by 4 armed men
A group of armed robbers barged into the residence of a businessman in south Delhi’s Vasant Vihar area on Wednesday afternoon, took his wife, elderly mother and two domestic helps hostage and decamped with cash and jewellery worth lakhs of rupees.
Police officials said the businessman, identified as Vikas Setia, owner of Setia Pipes manufacturing company, lodged a complaint at the Vasant Vihar police station on Wednesday evening in which he stated that four unidentified assailants had come to his B-Block first-floor residence in Vasant Vihar at around 3 pm on Wednesday. The accused impersonated as courier boys to gain entry.
“While two assailants provided cover and kept an eye on the main gate, the other two rang the bell of the residence. When the victim’s wife, Neha Setia, opened the door, the assailants got into the house and took Neha hostage along with her mother-in-law and two domestic helps at knife-point. The assailants then asked the victims to keep quiet and demanded keys from them.” a senior police official said.
Police sources revealed that the assailants took the keys of an almirah from the mother of Mr Setia after threatening to kill her and took away cash and jewellery worth `1.2 lakhs from it and fled from the house. “Neha then called up her husband, who was at his office, and informed him about the incident. She also made a PCR call,” the official said.
Mr Setia arrived at his residence in some time. in the meantime the cops also arrived and collected forensic evidence. “A case has been registered at the Vasant Vihar police station and investigation is on,” the official said.
