Trader accuses event management firm of fraud

A Noida-based event management company duped a Delhi businessman by promising to arrange a performance by Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar at his daughter’s wedding. The police registered a case against three employees of the firm on Saturday but no arrests have been made so far.
“The accused have been identified as Bani Sohal, Prerna Sohal and Sanjay Sohal of Sector-15 Noida-based M/s Purple Tree Entertainment, an event management firm, and a case under different Sections of IPC has been registered against them,” additional commissioner of police (southeast) Ajay Chaudhary said.
Sources said the accused had prepared fake papers of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Events and Entertainment Company to entice the victim Narinder Chugh, who lives in Kailash Colony, to enter into a deal with them.
“The accused had promised to arrange a a dance performance by Urmila Matondkar at the pre-wedding function of the victim’s daughter which was held on November 20 last year at Celebrations Gardens near Shiv Murti. They had fabricated letterheads of Ms Matondkar and Shah Rukh Khan’s company and took `13.50 lakhs from the victim,” a police source said.
However, just few days before the scheduled event, they backed out by telling the victim that Ms Matondkar was unwell and that Bollywood singer Hard Kaur can perform for `9 lakhs. “Since I had already invited more than 1,000 people and announced the name of the performer, I had no other option except to agree on an alternate proposal,” the victim told the police.
The victim was also made to pay for two business and eight economy class air tickets, one deluxe executive suite in a five-star hotel, one single room in the hotel, four double rooms in the same hotel or nearest four or three star hotel, one luxury car and two Innova cars. “Her performance was extremely ordinary and my guests left in hurry. I was cheated and defrauded by the accused persons,” the victim said.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
