Trader loses `20 lakhs in burglary
In a daylight burglary in north-west Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area, unidentified robbers barged into the house of a businessman and decamped with cash and jewellery worth around `20 lakhs on Thursday afternoon.
The police said the incident occurred between 2 pm and 7 pm when the businessman, identified as Harish, who runs a stationary store, was at his shop while his family members had gone for shopping. The incident was reported from C-10, Satyawati Colony, Bharat Nagar in Ashok Vihar.
“The burglars barged into the house by breaking the back door. Harish was at his shop in Nai Sadak area while his wife Nishi had left at 2 pm for shopping with her two children. When they returned home at around 7 pm, they found the main door bolted from inside. Nishi became suspicious and called her neighbours and two security guards of the colony who found the back door of the house broken. They went inside and found the entire house ransacked and cash and jewellery missing,” said a senior police official.
A PCR call was made by Nishi following which police officials and crime investigation team reached the spot and collected forensic evidences. On the basis of a complaint lodged by the family, the police has registered a case of burglary and is looking into the matter.
