Trader robbed near police HQ
A Karol Bagh-based businessman was allegedly robbed of gold jewellery and cash to the tune of several lakh rupees by two bike-borne assailants near the Delhi police headquarters.
A senior police official said the police have lodged an FIR in this connection with the IP Estate police station. No arrests have been made so far.
According to information, the victim, a businessman identified as Siddharth Bothra, was heading towards Preet Vihar to deliver a consignment of jewellery when he was robbed.
“He told the cops that when he reached near ITO crossing, using Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, two persons who were travelling on a bike intercepted his car near the police HQ. They told him that a woman was hurt after being hit by his car. Bothra got off the car and went up to traffic signal to see what had happened. He met a woman who was thrown off a bike. She told him she had escaped injury and rode away with her male partner,” said the police official.
The official further said when the victim went back to his car, he was shocked to see that the windowpane of his car was broken and cash and jewellery kept inside were missing. The two bike-borne persons were also missing from the spot.
He immediately informed the cops about the incident and his statement was recorded at the I.P. Estate police station and an FIR as lodged. Police said they would examine the CCTV footage of the camera installed at ITO crossing.
In a related incident, two persons were held at Alipur area of Outer Delhi for robbing a mini truck loaded with copper worth several lakhs. The accused persons forced the driver of the mini-truck to eat sedatives and dumped him near Bawana area.
A senior police official said the accused persons were identified as Ashwani and Bhagat. They have been involved in a series of robberies cases that took place in Outer Delhi area.
“The victim driver Satay Prakash told the cops that he was heading towards Sonepat with his mini-truck when the accused persons stopped his vehicle near Budhpur village at gun-point. They then forcefully entered his vehicle and took him towards Bawana. The accused persons made him eat sedatives and dumped him in Bawana area in an unconscious condition,” said the police official.
The official said they lodged an FIR in this respect and launched a manhunt to nab the accused persons. “The accused persons were arrested following a tip-off from the area. The mini truck which they abandoned in Kanjhawala area was found at their instance,” said the police official.
