Trader shot at, robbed by 3 bikers
A 35-year-old man was shot at by three bikers in Rohini late on Sunday evening. The bikers escaped with his bag containing `40 lakhs in cash.
According to the police, Sumit Jain, a resident of Sector-8, Rohini, was returning home after closing his electrical appliances shop at Shiv Market, Pitampura, when the
bikers intercepted his Toyota Corolla near his house. They asked him to part with the bag containing cash. However, Mr Jain pushed one of the bikers after coming out of his car. The biker fell down with the motorcycle. Sandeep, an eyewitness, said that one assailant whipped out a countrymade revolver and shot at Mr Jain in his chest. His friend, who rushed to the spot, took him to the nearby Mahavir Hospital. His condition is reported to be stable.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the bikers were wearing monkey caps to avoid identification.
The modus operandi of the assailants indicates that someone known to the victim may be involved.
A case of attempt to murder and robbery has been registered at the Rohini (north) police station and further investigations are on.
