Trader, wife shot at outside home, cash bag robbed
A businessman and his wife were shot at outside their house by four unidentified assailants when the couple resisted a robbery attempt in Kavinagar area here, the police said on Sunday. The incident happened when Anuj Garg was returning from his shop late on Saturday night.
“When Anuj was getting out of his car, the four armed assailants who arrived in a car held him at gunpoint and asked him to hand over his bag containing over `1 lakh,” a senior police officer said.
When Garg tried to resist, they opened fire at him, the officer said, adding that hearing the gunshot, his wife Deepa rushed outside the house.
“She tried to rescue her husband, but two of the assailants opened fire at her. The gang then fled from the spot with the bag,” the officer said.
The police said Anuj sustained a bullet injury on his back while his wife suffered a bullet wound on her leg. The couple has been admitted to Sarvodaya Hospital in Ghaziabad.
Sleuths are probing the case and a manhunt has been launched to arrest the four accused.

Girl, 17, raped at computer centre, accused arrested
Greater Noida, June 30: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped at gunpoint in a computer training centre in Habibpur village, the police said on Sunday.
Zakir, an employee at the centre where the victim was enrolled, raped her on June 8 and threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident, the police said.
The accused had allegedly asked the victim to stay back and committed the crime after all other students left. The girl stopped going to the centre as she could not face the accused who again threatened her, the police said. The victim went into depression and it was only on Saturday night that she confided in her parents about the incident.
“An FIR was lodged at the Bisrakh police station. The accused Zakir has been arrested,” a senior police officer said.
Meanwhile, a naib tehsildar was allegedly robbed of his car by three motorcycle-borne youths in Surajpur area here, the police said on Sunday.
Anil Sharma, a Gazetted officer of Group B category, said he was on his way to Delhi on Saturday night when the accused forced him to stop and took away his car.
A case has been registered against the three unidentified persons under relevant sections of the IPC.
Two days ago, a doctor was robbed of his vehicle at gunpoint from Sector 93. He had lodged a case in the Noida Phase 2 police area. — PTI
