Traffic was badly hit on Tuesday evening with water-logging reported from many places as it rained in several parts of the city. The MCD control room maintained that it had received more than 200 complaints of water logging. Though the weather department said that the capital received only 1 mm rain between 8.30 am to 5.30 pm, the

situation turned worse in the later part of the evening with people getting caught in the rush hour traffic. However, the capital received 21.6 mm of rain in the last 24 hours.
Water-logging at various places and traffic jams in areas around Ashram forced many people to walk long distances as autorickshaws refused to venture out in the jam and water-logged areas. Same was the case in several other areas of central, west, south and south-east Delhi. It rained particularly heavy in southern parts of the city and also at Palam, where the 24-hour total was 23.5 mm. Mehrauli-Badarpur stretch too was badly affected due to heavy rains. Neighbouring Noida, Gurgaon and certain parts of Ghaziabad also received heavy rains.
According to a Delhi traffic police official, jams were reported from Karol Bagh, Wazirabad, Azad Market, ITO, Shankar Road, Mathura Road, Lakshmi Nagar, Connaught Place, Dhaula Kuan, South Extension, Patel Nagar, Okhla, Sarai Kale Khan and Darya Ganj. With construction-related debris blocking most of the bell mouths of the storm water drains, water got collected at numerous points on the roads making. Those using two wheelers were reluctant to move ahead as a result of which the traffic situation got bad at many places.
According to the weatherman, the possibility of more rains was likely on Thursday as the sky is expected to remain generally cloudy. At least of one or two spells of thundershowers are likely in the capital.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in the capital was 36.6ºC and 26.3ºC.
