Trafficking racket busted, 3 arrested
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Sunday detained three passengers at the New Delhi IGI airport among whom one was allegedly carrying fake rubber stamps of the Immigration Bureau and Air India Security. The three were handed over to the Delhi police which arrested them. They were
to board the domestic leg of an Air India flight from Delhi to Amritsar which was then supposed to fly on to Canada. One of the passengers who had the fake stamps was caught during frisking by the CISF. He revealed that he had been given the stamps by two other passengers who were caught from the aerobridge before they could board the aircraft.
The police claimed to have unearthed a human trafficking racket with the arrests, reports PTI.
Incidentally, two other associates of this passenger, identified as Kulwant Singh, had already got the security check done.
The CISF handed over the trio to Delhi police which has charged them under sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery), 471 (use of forged document as genuine) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.
According to CISF officials, Kulwant was intercepted with five rubber stamps and upon interrogation he divulged the name of two other passengers Raj Kumar, 36, and Dalvinder Singh Lidhar, 46, who were travelling with him.
Kulwant and Dalvinder are from Jalandhar, while Kumar is from Paschim Vihar here.
“Kulwant revealed that Dalvinder promised him a job and settlement in Canada and he paid `20 lakhs to him for this. Dalvinder also handed over five forged stamps to Kulwant. They expected to get a smooth access during passport and visa check by misusing the stamps,” a senior CISF officer said.
“We are investigating the matter,” a senior police official said.
The CISF contacted the Bureau of Immigration and Air India security who confirmed that the stamps were “fake” and no longer used by them.
