VC clears air over semester system
Delhi University vice-chancellor Prof. Deepak Pental has clarified that the implementation of semester system is not subjudice and that it remains in force as announced at all times. He also warned the teaching community to implement the semester system or else action will be taken against the erring ones.
“A deliberate campaign on the part of the Delhi University Teachers’ Association has resulted in the erroneous impression that the implementation of the semester system is under question in the high court. This is incorrect and the DU clarifies to the entire teaching and student community and to the public at large that the semester system for the science courses is in force,” Prof Pental said.
However, the DU has sought for a restraint order from court to prevent DUTA from disrupting the implementation of the semester system.
“All the due processes have been followed and students have been admitted under semester system has new courses,” he further said.
Prof. Pental said that the changes have been introduced. He also said that revision of courses too was a mammoth task as many a courses had age-old content. The university changed those courses and introduced contemporaneity in it to make it useful for the students.
The DUTA brushed the VC’s statement as misleading.
