Wholesale market to open today

In a move to ensure that the city do not get short of onions and its price remains stable over the weekend, Delhi’s largest wholesale market, the Azadpur Mandi will remain open on Sunday.

According to the Azadpur Agriculture Product Market Committee (APMC), routine trading will be held at the market like on weekdays. The market usually remains closed on Sundays.
“The market will be open to ensure that there is no shortage of onions and tomatoes and their wholesale prices remain stabilised,” said committee members. Earlier this week, onion prices soared to `80 a kg owing to shortage. The government swung into action and put a hold on the export of onions.
The Delhi government has also started selling onions at `40 a kg from 400 outlets in the
city.
