Woman, 2 aides held for trader’s murder
The Delhi police on Thursday arrested three people for allegedly murdering the South Delhi-based scrap dealer and dumping his body in a car after robbing `2 lakhs and jewellery. The accused have been identified as Sheetal, 25, her husband Ravi, 26, and Ajay Kumar. The decomposed body of 51-year-old Ramnath Singla was found in his car parked on a roadside in Mandawali on October 19.
“The focus shifted to the personal life of the deceased and his contacts in Shakarpur as his last call was from the area. After analysis of his mobile call record and local enquiry, it came to notice that a lady Sheetal was known to him,” said police officers.
Efforts were made to locate her and on a specific input received by the special staff, Sheetal, her husband Ravi and brother-in-law Ajay were apprehended on Thursday. Sheetal, Ravi and Ajay disclosed their involvement in the brutal murder and robbery. The looted jewellery articles — three gold rings, one bracelet, `2,04,000 and two mobile phones of the deceased have been recovered from them.
“Sheetal revealed that she was known to the victim for the last 2-3 years. On October 17, she called Ramnath, who agreed to meet her. He came at around 5 pm and met her. She took him to her rented house in Shakarpur where she served him liquor and food,” the official said.
During this, Ajay noticed that he was wearing heavy jewellery and was also carrying cash. Sheetal, Ravi and Ajay then hatched a plan to kill Singla for the jewellery and the money, added the police officers.
Ravi is a graduate from Delhi University and has been previously involved in a similar case in which he robbed a doctor Jitender Nalwa.
