Woman, 65, hammered to death in Khirki Extn

A 55-year-old woman was hammered to death in Malviya Nagar area of south Delhi. The incident took place on Thursday evening.
A senior police official said the incident occurred in Khirki Extension at around 6.05 pm. The deceased senior citizen has been identified as Madhu.
“The neighbours of the deceased called the police saying that a scuffle was going on inside a home in Khirki Extension area. The police reached the spot and rushed Madhu to AIIMS where she was declared brought dead. Her head had been hit with a hammer. She had severe head injuries that caused her death. An FIR of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code was lodged in this respect,” said the senior police official.
The police official said that Madhu lived with her two sons Deepu and Sanjay. Her husband Ramesh had died few years ago. However, her daughter-in-law Rachna was present.
“We don’t know the motive behind the murder. We suspect that the family members could be behind the incident,” said the police official.
The official said the police would record the statement of Rachna to know the sequence of events leading to the murder.
“A known person had come to meet them. Rachna also has injuries,” said the police official.
